About The Position

This role involves material handling in a manufacturing or warehouse environment. The Material Handler will be responsible for operating equipment, ensuring safety compliance, and working effectively within a team. The position requires attention to detail, basic math and quality knowledge, and a strong commitment to safety values. The work environment can include various weather conditions and may involve exposure to noise, airborne particles, and moving machinery.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing, distribution or other industrial setting preferred.
  • Comparable experience handling tasks that are repetitive in nature, at a steady pace.
  • Able to stand and walk constantly on a cement floor surface.
  • Use of hands, fingers, arms, and shoulders constantly.
  • Reaching out frequently.
  • Lifting to a maximum of 30 lbs.
  • Rotating or twisting constantly.
  • Visual acuity.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Basic knowledge of quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate effectively and work closely and productively as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Act as an active trainee and trainer.
  • Demonstrate and apply logic when performing responsibilities.
  • Ensure safety is not compromised.
  • Identify hazards through basic understanding of machine and equipment operation.
  • Be mindful of actions and those around them to ensure incidents do not occur.
  • Proactively identify and report unsafe actions or conditions to supervisory staff.
  • Understand E-stops, including when and how to use them.
  • Understand authorized vs. affected Lock Out Tag Out employees.
  • Comply with all facility rules and regulations.
  • Report any unsafe practices and/or conditions to their Supervisor.
  • Maintain floor safety discipline by interceding with fellow employees who may engage in rule violations and/or unsafe, unhealthy activities.
  • Communicate to Management those employees who persist in violations of safety rules and/or procedures.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) properly and report any defective PPE.
  • Report all near misses, accidents, injuries, including Muscular Skeletal symptoms or disorders.
  • Operate a forklift or other material handling equipment.
