About The Position

The Material Handler is responsible for a variety of tasks related to the transportation and handling of materials. This includes inspecting and maintaining the truck, loading and unloading goods, driving to various locations, and ensuring all documentation is accurate. The role requires adherence to safety regulations and company policies, as well as representing the company positively to customers.

Requirements

Must be insurable as driver.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one-or two-step instructions.
Maintain forklift license and CDL endorsement.

Responsibilities

Cleans and inspects truck before and after trips and submits reports indicating truck position.
Reads bill of lading to determine assignment.
Fastens chain or binders to secure load on trailer during transit.
Loads or unloads or assists in loading and unloading truck.
Drives truck to various locations to deliver materials.
Obtains authorized signature for supplies requested.
Services truck with oil, fuel and radiator fluid to maintain tractor-trailer.
Obtains customer’s signature for goods delivered and delivery charges.
Inventories and inspects goods to be moved.
Wraps goods using pads, packing paper, and containers, and secures load to trailer wall using straps.
Drives tractor-trailer combination, applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations, to transport and deliver products.
Maneuvers truck into loading or unloading position, following signals from loading crew as needed.
Ensures truck is equipped with safety equipment and performs safety checks.
Reads maps and plans trips.
Maintains driver log according to I.C.C. regulations, Abacus reporting and any other administrative duties needed for the position.
Maintains forklift license and CDL endorsement as well as being insurable.
Assists in maintaining truck to ensure it is mechanically safe to drive, keeps truck clean and neat, and ensures trailer is kept in working condition.
Loads and unloads trucks in warehouse with forklift.
Represents the company in a positive manner to all customers.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as directed by your supervisor.
