About The Position

This role is responsible for managing unassembled cartons, assembling and taping them according to packing instructions, and ensuring a steady supply for production lines. The Material Handler will also be responsible for closing, labeling, and preparing finished cartons for shipping, as well as maintaining cleanliness and orderliness in their assigned work areas.

Requirements

  • Ability to bring unassembled cartons from staging area to taping station.
  • Ability to assemble cartons and tape them per packing instructions.
  • Ability to make only enough cartons for 30 minutes or 1 hour worth of production.
  • Ability to place preassembled empty cartons where Packer-Trimmer-Inspectors have easy access.
  • Ability to keep cartons neat and orderly.
  • Ability to close up and tape shut or bundle up full boxes.
  • Ability to ensure liner(s) are properly folded or tied.
  • Ability to mark label and carton neatly with correct carton number and any other special coding information.
  • Ability to place finished cartons on pallet or slip sheet.
  • Ability to number and stack cartons in the order they were produced, labels always facing out.
  • Ability to stack cartons in straight and neat rows.
  • Ability to apply correct banding or stretch wrap to stacked cartons per shipping specifications.
  • Ability to keep assigned areas clean, neat, and orderly.
  • Ability to keep the area around your workstation clean and free from dirt and debris.
  • Ability to clean assigned areas of the building or pieces of equipment as instructed by your supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Create only enough cartons for 30 minutes to 1 hour of production to avoid congestion and safety risks.
  • Place preassembled empty cartons within easy reach of Packer-Trimmer-Inspectors.
  • Keep cartons neat and orderly.
  • Close up and tape shut or bundle full boxes after they have been packed.
  • Ensure liners are properly folded or tied to prevent dust contamination.
  • Neatly mark labels and cartons with the correct carton number and any special coding.
  • Place finished cartons on pallets or slip sheets as instructed.
  • Number and stack cartons in production order with labels facing out.
  • Stack cartons in straight and neat rows.
  • Apply correct banding or stretch wrap to stacked cartons according to shipping specifications.
  • Keep assigned areas clean, neat, and orderly.
  • Keep the area around the workstation clean and free from dirt and debris.
  • Clean assigned areas of the building or equipment as instructed by the supervisor.
