About The Position

Spring Glen Fresh Foods in Ephrata, PA is seeking 2nd shift Material Handlers. This role is responsible for the efficient and timely receiving, shipping, storing, transferring, and inventory control of all goods and products within the Spring Glen Plant and Warehouse. Material Handlers operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment to move pallets and products, verify shipment accuracy and condition, and assist with loading/unloading trucks. The position involves daily equipment inspections, inventory rotation using the First-In, First-Out (FIFO) method, picking and staging customer orders with RF scanners, and supporting inventory control processes like cycle counts, monthly reconciliations, and annual audits. Maintaining an organized and safe work environment, adhering to company safety practices (including the use of required personal protective equipment - PPE), and following all food safety, legality, and quality guidelines (such as GMPs, HACCP, product integrity standards, food security, and plant security protocols) are crucial. Material Handlers also represent the company professionally when interacting with drivers, vendors, and external personnel, and report equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or operational issues to the Warehouse Manager. Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience operating pallets, forklifts, or other material-handling equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow instructions and maintain accuracy.
  • Basic math skills and ability to track counts and measurements.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork.

  • Forklift certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)

Responsibilities

  • Efficiently and timely receiving, shipping, storing, transferring and inventory control of all goods and products in the Spring Glen Plant and Warehouse.
  • Safely operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment to move pallets and products between storage areas, production lines, and trucks.
  • Verify the accuracy, condition, and quantity of all incoming and outgoing shipments.
  • Assist with loading and unloading trucks, ensuring proper handling to prevent product damage.
  • Report damaged or nonconforming goods promptly to management.
  • Perform daily equipment inspections (pre- and post-shift) to ensure vehicles and tools are safe and operational.
  • Rotate inventory using the First-In, First-Out (FIFO) method to maintain product quality and compliance.
  • Pick and stage customer orders using RF scanners and prepare materials for production as directed.
  • Support inventory control processes, including cycle counts, monthly reconciliations, and annual audits.
  • Provide accurate and timely reporting of inventory levels and product shortages.
  • Maintain an organized and safe work environment in compliance with housekeeping and hygiene standards.
  • Adhere to company safety practices, including the use of required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Follow all food safety, legality, and quality guidelines such as GMPs, HACCP, product integrity standards, food security, and plant security protocols.
  • Represent the company in a professional manner when interacting with drivers, vendors, and external personnel.
  • Report equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or operational issues to the Warehouse Manager.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support warehouse and plant operations.
