About The Position

The Heat Treat Material Handler is responsible for safely handling and processing steel plate in a heavy industrial environment. This role requires following all safety rules, completing work tasks according to standard operating procedures, and performing physical labor throughout 12‑hour rotating shifts.

Requirements

Ability to work in environments subject to fluctuations in heat, humidity, fumes, odors, dust, and noise
Ability to accurately enter data into computers without transposing figures
Ability to read and follow procedures and technical manuals
Ability to think ahead and plan work in a fast‑paced setting
Ability to work independently
Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds
Good math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, accurate number identification)
Ability to work 12‑hour rotating shifts
Ability to quickly coordinate hand motions with overhead crane operation
Comfortable working in high places
Successful completion of an ergonomic test

Nice To Haves

Experience operating a remote‑controlled crane in a fast‑paced environment
2–5 years industrial experience
Experience in a position requiring planning out work

Responsibilities

Use remotely controlled overhead cranes to stack and unstack steel plate
Load and unload steel plate on conveyor systems
Load and unload steel plate onto trucks and rail cars
Use burning equipment and hand grinders to cut and prepare plate samples for testing
Tag and mark steel plate
Enter data into computer systems
Operate forklift
Perform additional responsibilities as directed by the front-line supervisor
