About The Position
BlueLinx is hiring a Material Handler/Forklift Operator to work at its distribution center. This role supports the safe and efficient movement, storage, and distribution of building materials. The position pays a fixed rate of $25.90 per hour, subject to local minimum-wage requirements and consideration of experience, qualifications, skills, geographic location, and other job-related factors. The schedule is Monday through Friday.
Requirements
- One year of recent forklift or warehouse experience.
- Ability to use a forklift proficiently and safely to transport products and load or unload trucks.
- Ability to understand and follow directions.
- Ability to work independently at times and under pressure.
- Ability to handle physical tasks, including lifting up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to read and comprehend sales orders, purchase orders, and safety materials.
- Safe work record and stable work history.
Responsibilities
- Operate a forklift in compliance with training and safety guidelines.
- Load, unload, and store building materials from trailers or rail cars while minimizing damage.
- Store and retrieve materials, including piece-pick and bulk materials.
- Prepare paperwork required for product distribution and shipping.
- Perform daily inspection and maintenance of equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in the working and assigned areas.
- Assist with periodic inventory counts as requested.
