Material Handler/Upolstery Stager
About The Position
This position is responsible for stocking, pulling, stacking, and transporting parts as needed for assigned areas. Essential duties include operating the conveyor belt between Cushion Fill and Upholstery Dept, organizing and maintaining furniture coming into the Upholstery Department, and helping to stage work for the Inside Upholstery Departments. The role may involve breaking down or tearing down repairs, moving specific product to work areas in a timely manner, and potentially working in multiple departments or assigned areas. The individual must be able to learn to identify and measure different types of furniture and rotate stock using the FIFO (first in first out) method as appropriate. Must be self-motivated with little supervision.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Previous material handling experience a plus
- Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds, using proper lifting techniques
- Must have good eye sight and able to wear protective safety glasses
- Must be able to push furniture across the concrete floor
- Must be able to walk and stand for 9-hour shift, on concrete floors
- Must be able to push, pull, lift, twist, stoop, and carry supplies
- Must be able to work independently, yet able to communicate and get along with others
