Material Handler - Small Order (Weekend Shift)

About The Position

The Material Handler - Small Order picks and handles cartons and products using warehouse management system (WMS) information or pick tickets. The role includes labeling cartons, moving conveyable and non-conveyable cartons, building pallets, unloading containers, and maintaining safe, orderly work areas. The employee may train less experienced staff and is expected to participate in continuous improvement activities that support financial gain, time savings, or waste reduction. The position is full-time and works Friday through Sunday, 6:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. The starting rate is $16.50 per hour, plus a $1.00 per hour shift differential, for a total of $17.50 per hour.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED; or one to three months of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Frequently walk, bend, stand, and perform rotational standing and bending; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
Frequently grab, lift, carry, stack, and/or move materials and product weighing up to 40 pounds.
Occasionally climb up to two flights of 10-inch stairs.
Required vision abilities include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

Pick product from assigned locations based on information provided in WMS or on a pick ticket.
Attach labels appropriately to cartons.
Place conveyable cartons on a conveyor belt.
Pull non-conveyable cartons offline using a pick ticket.
Stack cartons on the appropriate pallet and place the pallet for the next wave.
Clean pick module and work areas daily, keeping picking locations neat, orderly, and safe.
Unload cartons from containers using a powered conveyor and stack them on the appropriate pallet.
Demonstrate safe working practices in all facets of work.
May train new or less experienced staff members.
Participate in continuous improvement events and activities that lead to financial gain, time savings, or waste reduction.
Perform other duties needed to help drive the company’s vision, fulfill its mission, and abide by its values.
