About The Position

This role is responsible for a variety of tasks related to receiving, coordinating, and distributing incoming deliveries. The Material Handler will ensure accuracy and timeliness in all distribution processes, determine appropriate shipping methods, and manage the movement of materials between various locations. This position also involves assembling product containers, packing, and re-packing goods, as well as maintaining a clean and organized work environment. Adherence to safety procedures, company policies, and quality principles is paramount.

Requirements

  • Previous shipping/traffic and material handling experience.
  • Paint/Coatings/chemical industry knowledge or experience.

Responsibilities

  • Receive deliveries in SAP system
  • Coordinate and deliver incoming packages to appropriate departments and recipients, ensuring accuracy and timely distribution.
  • Determine shipping method for materials, using knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
  • Deliver or route materials to departments, using work devices, such as handtruck, conveyor, or sorting bins.
  • Attach identifying tags to containers, or mark them with identifying information.
  • Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments and material and equipment needs.
  • Record numbers of units handled and moved, using daily production sheets or work tickets.
  • Move freight, stock, and other materials to and from storage and production areas, loading docks, delivery vehicles, ships, and containers, by hand or using trucks, tractors, and other equipment.
  • Sort cargo before loading and unloading.
  • Assemble product containers and crates, using hand tools and precut lumber.
  • Load and unload ship cargo, using winches and other hoisting devices.
  • Pack containers and re-pack damaged containers.
  • Carry needed tools and supplies from storage or trucks, and return them after use.
  • Communicate with Supervisors, peers, or subordinates: provide information to supervisors and co-workers in written form or in person.
  • Maintain a good record of attendance and punctuality.
  • Learn all manual tasks performed within the department.
  • Perform tasks assigned using specific operating procedures, and following department specific quality control processes and procedures.
  • Treat people with dignity and respect.
  • Conduct all business with integrity.
  • Adhere to Rust-Oleum Corporation Quality principles and participate in all departmental and company-wide Quality activities.
