About The Position

Operates electric and propane forklift trucks to receive and distribute materials in and out of stock. This role is responsible for keeping all in-process inventories at work centers, safely delivering and opening materials, repacking large corrugated boxes of components into smaller containers for production use, and preparing finished containers of parts for stocking. The position also involves preparing barcode labels, maintaining material handling equipment, conducting weight counts, and preparing component and dunnage inventory during work cell changeovers. Flexibility to work any shift, overtime, and weekends is required, along with the ability to adhere to a strict delivery schedule.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years experience with stand-up and sit-down forklift operation in a manufacturing environment.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and respond to questions from groups of management, associates, customers, suppliers, and public.
  • Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Regularly required to stand; move around the plant; handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include the ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in an automotive manufacturing environment is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Keep all in-process inventories at work centers at all times.
  • Safely deliver and open materials.
  • Re-pack large corrugated boxes of components into small containers for production use.
  • Take finished containers of parts from work cells and prepare them for stocking into finished goods.
  • Prepare barcode labels for finished goods and WIP containers.
  • Maintain material handling equipment by completing check off sheet and completing operator repairs and preventative maintenance, when necessary.
  • Conducts weight counts if needed for production.
  • Prepares & delivers component and dunnage inventory when work cell changeovers occur.
  • Other miscellaneous duties assigned as requested.
  • Must be flexible to work any shift, overtime and weekends as needed.
  • Must be able to stick to a strict delivery schedule at each Workcell.
