This role requires familiarity with tools and consumables, the ability to manage the distribution and receipt of tools and welding wire, and knowledge of tool repair. The Material Handler Lead will also be responsible for ordering consumables and tools, and maintaining a log of distribution. The position involves storing, loading, and unloading materials that cannot be handled by mechanical devices, opening containers, operating manual or mechanical devices, and stocking inventory shelves. The role also includes reading production schedules to determine items to be moved, gathering and distributing materials, assorting and placing materials on shelves according to sequences, and counting, weighing, and recording materials handled. Additionally, the Material Handler Lead will attach identifying tags, move materials for delivery, fill requisitions, assemble bundles, clamp conveyor sections, lift objects, clean work areas, make simple tool adjustments or repairs, assemble crates, shovel loose materials, record received or distributed items, maintain inventory records, perform housekeeping tasks, and follow hazardous waste handling guidelines. Safety is paramount, requiring adherence to all safety rules, procedures, and the use of personal protective equipment. The position may require a high school diploma or equivalent and previous experience in the field. The role operates under immediate supervision, with primary functions not typically requiring independent judgment, and usually reports to a supervisor or manager.
