About The Position

Experienced, senior-level material handling position responsible for high production, high complexity activities loading, unloading and moving materials within the warehouse in a safe and efficient manner. Material Handler III roles are typically assigned to complex and important client accounts, accounts that are highly sensitive accounts, require a high level of effective communication and may consist of high value goods handling. This role requires presence on-site at the assigned work location and involves various material handling tasks, including operating forklifts and other warehouse equipment, loading and unloading materials, and completing necessary paperwork. The position also emphasizes safety, training, and comprehensive knowledge of all accounts and branch functions.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Greater than three years of related experience.
  • Forklift certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
  • Ability to use vision, adjust focus and work on a standard computer screen.
  • Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch.
  • Frequently required to climb or balance.
  • Regularly lift and/or move 50 pounds by hand.
  • Must be a member of the Safety Committee at least once during the year.
  • Must be a trainer and exhibit competency in training others.
  • Must know all accounts and be able to perform every floor function in the branch.
  • EDI Knowledge: Extensive understanding of EDI standards (ANSI X12, EDIFACT) and working knowledge of XML, JSON data formats.
  • Data Mapping: Ability to translate business and technical requirements into detailed field-by-field data mappings.
  • Project Management: Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and maintain team velocity.
  • Stakeholder Management: Proven ability to manage expectations, communicate proactively, and navigate competing priorities across multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Logistics industry knowledge (freight forwarding, warehousing, customs brokerage).
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills with ability to identify issues early and develop solutions independently.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Agile Execution: Ability to work within agile frameworks, create actionable stories, and drive work to completion against target dates.
  • Team Collaboration: Works effectively with cross-functional teams while taking ownership of project outcomes.
  • Judgment & Escalation: Demonstrates sound judgment in knowing when to resolve issues independently vs. when to escalate to management.
  • Integration experience in retail, government, high tech, or energy verticals.
  • SQL or other programming language experience.
  • Experience with integration platforms (Boomi, Sterling Integrator, Informatica).

Responsibilities

  • Check for vendor accuracy and create bill of ladings (BOLs).
  • Validate no damage to cargo, ensure correct labeling, perform quality checklist, sign off on load accuracy, kitting, and sub-assembly.
  • Handle hazardous materials, including packing, checking MSDS, and other required paperwork.
  • Fill client orders safely, efficiently, and within Crane SOPs.
  • Ensure distribution activities are conducted in accordance with internal quality standards while maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Read and follow work orders, and follow instructions to ascertain materials or container loads to be moved.
  • Operate a forklift or other drivable warehouse equipment, including high reach vehicles or similar.
  • Load and unload materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand, forklift, or other warehouse equipment.
  • Load materials into vehicles and install strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit.
  • Count, weigh, and record the number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheets.
  • Attach identifying tags or labels to materials.
  • Scan freight via warehouse management system with RF equipment.
  • Complete required paperwork thoroughly and promptly.
  • Perform housekeeping tasks to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Accurately and courteously load client merchandise.
  • Be a member of the Safety Committee at least once during the year.
  • Act as a trainer and exhibit competency in training others.
  • Know all accounts and be able to perform every floor function in the branch.
  • Other duties as assigned.
