About The Position

The Material Handler is responsible for supporting internal and external customers through accurate receiving, stocking, delivery, and shipping/receiving of materials. In addition, the Material Handler should be capable to safely operate all material support equipment required in the facility operations. The Vocational segment includes market leading brands McNeilus, Oshkosh S-Series, IMT, Pierce, MAXIMETAL, Oshkosh Airport Products, and Frontline Communications. Our purpose-built products serve our communities with carefully designed and engineered refuse trucks, front-discharge mixer trucks, fire apparatus, Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting trucks, service vehicles, and command trucks. Our products are designed to perform under the toughest conditions. The Aftermarket Warehouse will operate five days per week across two shifts. The current open shift is: 8:30 am to 5:00 pm

Requirements

  • 3 years or more relevant experience OR High School Diploma or equivalent education
  • Ability to become forklift certified to operate a forklift/tugger to receive and deliver parts safely and efficiently
  • Perform assigned tasks
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Follow instructions from supervisors and other co-workers
  • Communicate with other individuals in a loud environment to complete tasks
  • Recognize and react to abnormal operating conditions
  • Stay alert to the surrounding areas and alert individuals when operating a forklift
  • Use and wear personal protective equipment as indicated by the task or environment
  • Hear safety alarms and other co-workers
  • Perform counting tasks
  • Maintain balance when walking and standing on potential slippery work floor while pushing a cart with equipment/parts
  • Maintain balance when climbing on a portable step to retrieve parts
  • Use a computer to track down parts
  • Individually lift and manipulate parts/equipment weighing up to 35 pounds
  • Tolerate constant standing, sitting, and walking throughout the shift
  • Use both hands for tool operation, carrying of parts, and assisting co-workers with heavy lifting of parts
  • Climb in and out of forklift/tow motor safely
  • Demonstrate strength and physical stamina to complete the tasks safely
  • Remember task sequence, parts locations, and safety constraints

Responsibilities

  • Efficiently locate & pull materials/supplies as listed on production/sales order and stock assigned production areas to maintain inventory levels for production; ability to accurately verify parts & quantities and complete BOLs to receive and/or ship material.
  • Licensed and can operate all material handling equipment (i.e. Stand-up, Sit-down, Combi, Lancer, Tugger) at assigned Operations facility.
  • Ability to lift 35 pounds in a safe manner.
  • Able to/willing to learn how to operate a truck and transport from one area of the property to another.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment in compliance with safety procedures, rules, and proper 6S standards; use best practices to follow all safe procedures in operation of various material support equipment in assigned Operations facility.
  • Must have outstanding transaction discipline - being diligent with quantity accuracy, making effective changes within JDE
  • Perform Cycle Counts of Inventory and update JDE system
  • Rectify inventory discrepancies, monitor KANBAN cards, previous experience with ERP systems, and JDE
  • Effective in working cross-functionally with various internal customer.
