The Material Handler II role involves following established procedures, operating equipment like forklifts, developing company knowledge, learning functional principles, and resolving problems with assistance. The role requires flexibility across different products and areas to support business needs, performing daily forklift inspections, and accepting responsibility for actions. It also involves participating in team meetings, demonstrating attention to detail, attendance, and quality, and performing safe and effective operation of equipment while following safety guidelines. The incumbent should know basic ERP system functions, may assist in training new employees, and actively participates in the Drive to Zero program. They will use judgment in resolving issues, may participate in or lead portions of project teams, and should have a thorough knowledge of applicable discipline principles and a working knowledge of related fields. The role provides resolutions for basic to moderately complex problems, exercises judgment in selecting methods, and interacts with supervisors, team members, and potentially external business partners. Errors can have implications requiring additional resources, and the role contributes to improving processes, lead times, through-put, and cost.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of experience
  • Must be effectively cross trained in multiple operations.
  • Ability to use advanced troubleshooting within the materials environment.
  • Ability to train other employees in established processes.
  • Problem solving skills and interfacing with other departments.
  • Strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Follow established procedures, processes, or policies.
  • Operate a forklift or other equipment to transport materials within the facility.
  • Developing a good knowledge of the company and may be assigned to projects for career development.
  • Learning the principles, practices, and processes in the function or discipline.

  • May resolve problems with assistance from peers or supervisor depending on the level and complexity.
  • Follows defined procedures and practices.
  • Contacts are typically with immediate supervisor and other members of the team in the immediate organization.
