Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); 1+ years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience operating forklift and other warehouse equipment safely and competently.
  • Forklift certification required, or willingness to obtain on the job.
  • Ability to read, add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to work safely in all job tasks.
  • Skill in operation of power equipment, including forklift and pallet jack.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, and maneuver large/heavy products or pieces of equipment while working within established safety guidelines.
  • Familiarity with distribution center management systems and order picking processes.
  • Ability to follow instructions and procedures.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work.
  • Ability to attend to details.
  • Ability to work with others in a team-based environment.
  • Ability to complete routine paperwork.
  • Ability to utilize necessary technology to complete tasks, such as RF equipment and ERP software.
  • English proficiency (written and spoken) is a core requirement for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with inventory management systems.
  • Knowledge of HVAC wholesale industry, principles, and practices.
  • Previous experience with OSHA and safety regulations and procedures.
  • Multilingual skills are valued.

Responsibilities

  • Receiving, filling, and/or shipping products accurately and efficiently.
  • Operating basic power equipment (i.e., electric pallet, walkie rider, sit down forklift) to move products around the distribution center.
  • Operating basic power equipment in a safe and efficient manner to pick and process orders and to locate, put away, stack, and move checked-in products to correct storage locations on a daily basis.
  • Receiving product by unloading trucks using forklift, pallet jack, electric pallet jack, or by hand.
  • Ensuring shipments received are in good condition and accurate by inspecting freight for damage and signing freight bills; verifying quantity ordered versus quantity received; checking all shipments against packing lists; and completing necessary paperwork for reimbursements or discrepancies.
  • Ensuring all required products have verified bar code labels and readable Johnstone stock numbers by scanning products, printing labels, resolving labeling discrepancies, and completing necessary paperwork.
  • Filling orders by picking products, packing items into cartons, stacking them in a manner that minimizes shipping damage, entering items into scan gun, and completing necessary paperwork.
  • Documenting the shipment of hazardous materials by labeling cartons correctly and completing necessary paperwork.
  • Preparing orders by preparing trucks for shipments; palletizing and wrapping orders; loading pallets and pieces into trucks; placing packing list in last skid; and completing necessary paperwork.
  • Maintaining current accuracy and efficiency standards and following all standard operating procedures.
  • Assisting in the maintenance and upkeep of all warehouse machinery and equipment.
  • Maintaining a safe work environment by working in a safe manner, following safety rules, and maintaining a clean work area. Promptly reporting any safety or maintenance concerns to supervisors.
  • Always wearing protective equipment according to company policies and procedures.
  • Accessing Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) as needed and when appropriate.
  • Maintaining required hazardous materials, forklift, and other internal and external certifications as needed.
  • Maintaining professional communications when interacting with customers and coworkers. Treating all customers and coworkers with a helpful and courteous attitude.
  • Performing all other duties as assigned.
