Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); 1+ years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience operating forklift and other warehouse equipment safely and competently.
  • Forklift certification required, or willingness to obtain on the job.
  • Ability to read, add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to work safely in all job tasks.
  • Skill in operation of power equipment, including forklift and pallet jack.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, and maneuver large/heavy products or pieces of equipment while working within established safety guidelines.
  • Familiarity with distribution center management systems and order picking processes.
  • Ability to follow instructions and procedures.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work.
  • Ability to attend to details.
  • Ability to work with others in a team-based environment.
  • Ability to complete routine paperwork.
  • Ability to utilize necessary technology to complete tasks, such as RF equipment and ERP software.
  • English proficiency (written and spoken) is a core requirement.

  • Experience with inventory management systems.
  • Knowledge of HVAC wholesale industry, principles, and practices.
  • Previous experience with OSHA and safety regulations and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Operates basic power equipment (i.e., electric pallet, walkie rider, sit down forklift) to move products around the distribution center.
  • Operates basic power equipment in a safe and efficient manner to pick and process orders and to locate, put away, stack, and move checked-in products to correct storage locations.
  • Stocks, fills bin boxes, faces cartons, checks for product mixing, and rotates product where needed.
  • Monitors stock on shelves or bins and replenishes stock from reserves.
  • Maintains control of products in reserve stock area or will call area.
  • Receives product by unloading trucks using forklift, pallet jack, electric pallet jack, or by hand.
  • Ensures shipments received are in good condition and accurate by inspecting freight for damage, signing freight bills, verifying quantity ordered versus quantity received, checking all shipments against packing lists, and completing necessary paperwork for reimbursements or discrepancies.
  • Ensures all required products have verified bar code labels and readable Johnstone stock numbers by scanning products, printing labels, resolving labeling discrepancies, and completing necessary paperwork.
  • Fills orders by picking products, packing items into cartons, stacking them in a manner that minimizes shipping damage, entering items into scan gun, and completing necessary paperwork.
  • Documents the shipment of hazardous materials by labeling cartons correctly and completing necessary paperwork.
  • Prepares orders by preparing trucks for shipments, palletizing and wrapping orders, loading pallets and pieces into trucks, placing packing list in last skid, and completing necessary paperwork.
  • Maintains current accuracy and efficiency standards and follows all standard operating procedures.
  • Assists in the maintenance and upkeep of all warehouse machinery and equipment.
  • Maintains a safe work environment by working in a safe manner, following safety rules, and maintaining a clean work area.
  • Promptly reports any safety or maintenance concerns to supervisors.
  • Always wears protective equipment according to company policies and procedures.
  • Accesses Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) as needed and when appropriate.
  • Maintains required hazardous materials, forklift, and other internal and external certifications as needed.
  • Maintains professional communications when interacting with customers and coworkers.
  • Treats all customers and coworkers with a helpful and courteous attitude.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
