About The Position

This is an entry-level position with career laddering opportunities. The Material Handler I is responsible for performing material handling duties to supply the assembly line. This includes tasks associated with pre-kit, kitting, and the Controlled Environment Room (CER). The role involves coordinating the flow of materials, assisting team members, communicating potential shortages, maintaining accurate inventory documentation, and pulling materials via requisitions. Safety procedures must always be followed.

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent.
  • 0 - 2 years warehouse / material handling experience.
  • Written and oral communications skills sufficient to speak clearly and distinctly, read simple instructions in English.
  • Performs expanded basic arithmetic calculations (add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals).
  • Applies common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
  • Standard office computer, pallet jack and forklift.
  • Moderate physical activity performing somewhat strenuous day-to-day activities of a primarily productive nature.
  • Lifting 60 lbs. /carrying 25 lbs.
  • Moderate lifting, carrying, bending, pushing/pulling, climbing and prolonged standing.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items, works with fingers, and perceives attributes of objects and material.
  • Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Ability to judge distance and space relationships (i.e. visualize objects of multiple dimensions).
  • Must be able to handle chemicals safely and confidently.
  • Must be able to use protective clothing/devices as outlined in procedures.
  • Ability to work in a well-lighted, climate controlled, warehouse setting with adequate ventilation.

Responsibilities

  • Supply assembly line with materials.
  • Perform material handling duties associated with pre-kit, kitting, and Controlled Environment Room (CER).
  • Coordinate flow of materials or products into pre-kit and kitting with the Material Handler Team Lead.
  • Assist material handling team members with material handling activities as directed.
  • Communicate potential shortages and/or future inventory projections to appropriate personnel.
  • Provide accurate documentation for inventory control.
  • Pull material via miscellaneous requisitions.
  • Perform scrap transactions in IQMS.
  • Follow all safety procedures.
  • Maintain inventory control and record accuracy.
  • Participate and provide input for process improvement programs.
