About The Position
The Material Handler I operates forklifts and cherry pickers to unload materials and merchandise from incoming trucks and pick products for shipment. The role involves accurately picking, weighing, checking, and packing orders; following customer-specific order requirements; and helping maintain inventory, supplies, cleanliness, and safety in a non-climate-controlled warehouse. The shift is days, 8 a.m.–5 p.m.
Requirements
- Certified to operate forklifts and cherry pickers.
- Strong proficiency in English communication, including reading, writing, and verbal interactions, to comply with safety protocols and operational procedures.
Nice To Haves
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- At least 1 year of related job experience preferred.
- RF handheld experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Operate forklifts and cherry pickers to unload incoming materials and merchandise and pick products for shipment.
- Accurately pick parts throughout the warehouse.
- Weigh products using the proper scales.
- Check part numbers and quantities for accuracy.
- Pack orders into shipping cartons and verify that all components are accounted for and intended for the correct customer.
- Read customer order notes and fulfill special customer requirements.
- Maintain stock of warehouse and shipping supplies.
- Assist with physical inventory counts and perform inventory audits as needed.
- Notify the Department Lead or Department Supervisor of stock shelf issues.
- Report defective materials or products, shortages, and questionable conditions to the Lead or Supervisor.
- Maintain warehouse cleanliness and orderliness.
- Follow all safety rules.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
