About The Position

A Materials Handler I (Forklift Driver I) is responsible for storing, moving, and handling materials. This role involves extensive on-the-job training and operates within a structured work environment designed to minimize safety risks. Each job is planned in detail, and safety issues are addressed before a job begins. A high school diploma or GED certification and being at least 18 years of age are required. Previous materials handling experience is also required. The ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, is necessary. Additionally, the candidate must be able to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and draw and interpret bar graphs. Experience with "side shifting" and working with stand-up forklifts and extended forks is required. The employee must be forklift certified within 90 days.

Requirements

  • Must have sit-down forklift experience.
  • A high school diploma or GED certification.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Previous Materials handling experience.
  • Must be forklift certified within 90 days.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Must be able to “side shift”.
  • Must have worked with stand-up forklifts and extended forks.

Nice To Haves

  • Powered Industrial Truck certified.

Responsibilities

  • Stage product for use.
  • Maintain inventory controls.
  • Feed the lines.
  • Follows all safety procedures and regulations including wearing special protective gear and disposing of materials as regulated by law.
  • Follows direction and communicates clearly.
  • Physically moves materials and uses heavy equipment to move materials on a regular basis.
  • Contribute to Hearthside daily inbound and outbound operations – Shipping/Receiving.
  • Operate forklifts to pick, replenish, shuttle and load/unload orders.
  • May count weigh or record numbers of units or materials moved or handled.
  • Ensure safe work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
