About The Position

Under direct supervision, this role handles and maintains the flow of materials and products in manufacturing areas according to established guidelines. It provides information for recording the movement of incoming and outgoing materials and supplies. The position may operate motorized and non-motorized material handling equipment, unpack and check goods against purchase orders or invoices, and maintain records of received goods, alerting appropriate personnel to inspect unsatisfactory items when necessary. The role involves lifting and moving heavy items, potentially operating a forklift, and preparing and maintaining records of items shipped while complying with documentation and record-keeping procedures. Additionally, the Material Handler may prepare goods for final shipment and/or production assembly, examine, stock, and/or distribute goods in inventory and/or in other areas, and enter information into the inventory management system. There is also potential to train others in distribution-related tasks and work from engineering drawings and/or follow documented assembly/packaging instructions. The ability to operate computer-related programs is also required.

Requirements

  • Ability to operate common material handling equipment (e.g. hand truck, scales, label maker, PC, etc.).
  • General computer skills.
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Prior manufacturing or related experience
  • Forklift Operation experience
