About The Position

UC Group is seeking a full-time Forklift Operator (Material Handler – Tech 1) to join our Warehouse Operations team on our weekend shift (Friday, Saturday, Sunday, 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM). This is a union position with a 60-working-day probationary period. The Material Handler is responsible for handling, moving, and storing various materials within the warehouse. Primary responsibilities include shipping, receiving, and cross-docking containers and trailers while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 1–2 years of experience operating PIT (Power Industrial Trucks) or forklifts.
  • Minimum of six (6) months of warehouse experience.
  • Forklift Operator Certification required.
  • Must be able to provide proof of previous forklift certification.
  • Must demonstrate safe operating knowledge of both sit-down and stand-up PIT equipment.
  • Ability to safely operate pallet jacks, forklifts, stackers, and other powered or manual material handling equipment.
  • Ability to lump floor-loaded containers.
  • Ability to read and interpret Bills of Material.
  • Intermediate computer skills.
  • Ability to learn and use RF equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Good attendance and reliability.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing workplace priorities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 70 pounds.
  • Ability to constantly walk, bend, and lift throughout the shift.
  • Ability to work in varying and inclement temperatures.
  • Ability to follow instructions and established procedures while completing assigned duties in a timely manner.
  • Employees in all warehouse positions must be able to immediately recognize and respond to auditory warning signals, including bells, alarms, horns, and other safety alerts used to indicate: Equipment start-up, Moving forklifts, conveyors, trucks, turrets, and other warehouse equipment, Mechanical abnormalities, Other potentially hazardous situations during warehouse operations.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience using warehouse software applications such as WMS, YMS, or Labor Management systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for shipping, receiving, and cross-docking containers and trailers.
  • Sort, stage, and place products in the appropriate storage areas and/or distribution centers.
  • Efficiently and accurately pick pallets/products and stage them in the appropriate areas.
  • Prepare completed pallets for shipping, including stacking, packaging, shrink wrapping, labeling, and moving products to assigned locations.
  • Accurately load outbound trailers to meet customer requirements.
  • Verify products and orders against Bills of Lading (BOLs) and report any damages or discrepancies.
  • Perform assembly of warehouse products according to customer specifications.
  • Communicate with the Warehouse Supervisor regarding load issues.
  • Complete Load Inspection forms.
  • Assist with product tier/high issues.
  • Ensure all products are properly secured on pallets.
  • Complete daily housekeeping activities.
  • Perform all work safely and actively participate in daily safety initiatives.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
