About The Position

BlueLinx is seeking a Material Handler / Forklift Operator to work at its distribution center as part of a team focused on safety and quality service. The role handles building materials and prepares products for distribution and shipping. The schedule is Monday through Friday. Compensation depends on experience, qualifications, skills, geographic location, and other job-related considerations.

Requirements

• One year of recent forklift or warehouse experience.
• Ability to proficiently and safely use a forklift to transport products and load and unload trucks.
• Ability to understand and follow directions.
• Ability to work independently at times under pressure.
• Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to read and comprehend sales orders, purchase orders, safety materials, and similar documents.
• Safe work record and stable work history.

Responsibilities

• Operate a forklift in compliance with forklift training and safety guidelines.
• Load, unload, and store building materials from trailers or rail cars while minimizing damage.
• Store and retrieve materials, including piece-pick and/or bulk materials.
• Prepare paperwork required for product distribution and shipping.
• Perform daily inspection and maintenance of equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in the work and assigned areas.
• Assist with periodic inventory counts as requested.
