About The Position

Join a dynamic, climate-controlled warehouse team as a Material Handler 1 in Sumter, SC. This contractor position focuses on operating forklifts and stand-up lifts to ensure accurate and efficient order processing for a leading distribution center. Enjoy a competitive starting pay of $18.50 per hour (including shift differential) and a consistent 3,2,2,3 night shift schedule (7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m., weekends included).

Requirements

Minimum 6 months forklift/stand-up lift experience
High School Diploma, GED, or 1 year of relevant experience
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted and perform repetitive physical tasks
Computer literacy and ability to learn RF scanning technology
Strong verbal communication, organization, and prioritization skills
Able to work efficiently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, metrics-driven environment
Must complete 10-panel drug screen and eye exam within 48 hours of job offer acceptance

Nice To Haves

Experience with Walkie Ryder (motorized pallet jack)
Familiarity with distribution center operations and documentation
Previous cross-training or backup experience within warehouse roles

Responsibilities

Safely operate forklifts and stand-up lifts to move, pick, and palletize customer orders
Use RF scanners to process, track, and label inventory accurately
Pick, pack, and prepare orders for shipment, ensuring precision and quality
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area as per SOP and company guidelines
Complete training on RF device and maintain up-to-date certification modules
Adhere strictly to safety, sanitation, and security procedures, reporting any hazards or incidents immediately
Support dock manifest duties and shrink-wrapping of pallets as needed
Cross-train on other warehouse positions to provide backup support when required
