This position involves receiving, examining, and determining the condition and disposition of a wide variety of materials. The role requires reviewing disposal turn-in documents, comparing data against property for accuracy (stock number, nomenclature, quantity, unit of issue, disposal authority code, DEMIL, condition code), and visually inspecting usable property for acceptability. The Material Examiner and Identifier determines material condition, reportability, and special handling requirements (e.g., hazardous material, precious metals, security, DEMIL, Special focus items), assigning appropriate classification instructions for warehousing. This role also involves verifying the accuracy of demilitarization codes, challenging questionable items/codes, and maintaining segregated storage of property requiring DEMIL. Ensuring proper certification is attached to turn-in documents for demilitarized items is crucial. The position includes performing special and periodic inventories, re-palletizing/re-locating property as needed, and operating forklifts and related materials handling equipment to move, load, unload, stack, or un-stack palletized materials, supplies, and equipment.
