Sets up and operates metal fabricating machines such as brakes, shears and presses, to cut, bend, straighten, and form metal plates, sheets, and structural shapes. This role involves reading and interpreting blueprints, engineering specifications, and shop orders to determine machine setup, production methods, and sequence of operation. The Material Coordinator will select, position, and secure tooling and fixtures, and position and clamp stops, guides, and turntables. Adjustments to controls for pressure, depth of ram stroke, machine speed, and other factors will be made. The position requires locating and marking bending or cutting lines, positioning workpieces, and operating the machine while observing its operation. Inspection and measurement of work, labeling parts, and moving them to storage are also key duties. Documenting deviations and taking corrective action, wearing required PPE, and training new employees are part of the role. Reporting work-related injuries and near misses, and correcting or reporting unsafe conditions are essential responsibilities.
