About The Position

The Material Coordinator coordinates and expedites the flow of material, parts, and assemblies within or between departments in accordance with production and shipping schedules or department supervisors' priorities. This role involves reviewing production schedules, conferring with supervisors to determine material needs, locating overdue materials, requisitioning materials, and establishing delivery sequences based on job order priorities and availability. The coordinator arranges for in-plant material transfers, collaborates with supervisors for repair and assembly, and verifies that delivered materials match specifications. Additionally, this position may involve monitoring conveyor systems, calculating material requirements, compiling inventory reports, and maintaining production records using manual or computerized systems.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • At least 2 years of related work experience preferred
  • Ability to deal with physical demands including warehouse environment, walking, bending, stooping, and lifting inventory items up to and at times exceeding 50 pounds with appropriate safety requirements.

  • Basic to Intermediate computer skills, specifically using Microsoft Office Suite and Deltek CostPoint, with an ability to learn additional skills and software programs.
  • Ability to pass a drug and background screening.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and expedites the flow of material, parts, and assemblies within or between departments.
  • Reviews production schedules and confers with department supervisors to determine material requirements and locate overdue materials.
  • Requisitions material and establishes delivery sequences to departments based on job order priorities and anticipated availability.
  • Arranges for in-plant transfer of materials to meet production schedules.
  • Confers with department supervisors for repair and assembly of material and its transportation to various departments.
  • Examines material delivered to production departments to verify type specified.
  • Monitors and controls movement of material and parts along conveyor systems.
  • Computes amount of material needed for specific job orders.
  • Compiles reports of quantity and type of material on hand.
  • Moves or transports material from one department to another.
  • Compiles perpetual production records to locate material in process of production.
  • Maintains employee records.
  • Receives Government Furnished Equipment (GFE), kits, and other inventory property.
  • Accurately enters all property into the database.
  • Performs material transfers and releases as needed per company processes and federal regulations.
  • Conducts inventory cycle counts, verifying item storage, location, quantity, etc.
  • Responsible for control and accuracy of material and records using both manual and electronic inventory control systems.
  • Oversees physical inventory annually.
