About The Position

Kent is looking for a Material Coordinator to support a construction project at Kearl. This role is responsible for coordinating site material control activities, ensuring that construction materials are received, tracked, issued, and accurately reported to support project execution. Working closely with the Materials & Logistics Lead, Storemen, Construction teams, and Procurement, the Material Coordinator plays a key role in maintaining visibility of material status, supporting inventory accuracy, and ensuring material availability aligns with construction schedules and work-front requirements. The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple material priorities in a fast-paced construction environment. The role will be based at the site and will work a 14/7 schedule, 10-hour days, with charter flights from Edmonton or Calgary.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 5+ years of experience in materials coordination, warehouse operations, or site logistics within construction, industrial, or EPC environments preferred.
  • Experience supporting site material control processes
  • Material receiving and inspection
  • Inventory tracking and reconciliation
  • Warehouse coordination and material issuance
  • Material readiness for construction work fronts
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to effectively coordinate with Construction, Materials Management, Procurement, and Logistics teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Post-secondary education in Supply Chain, Logistics, Construction Management, or a related field is considered an asset.
  • Experience supporting industrial, oil & gas, mining, or large construction projects is considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems, material tracking tools, and reporting platforms.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and material reporting tools is preferred.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar) is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily material control activities in support of site construction requirements.
  • Work closely with Construction teams to understand upcoming material needs and work-front priorities.
  • Ensure required materials are available and issued in alignment with construction schedules.
  • Support the Materials & Logistics Lead in managing site material readiness and availability.
  • Assist in resolving material shortages, substitutions, or delivery issues impacting construction activities.
  • Maintain accurate material tracking and inventory records within project systems.
  • Monitor material receipts, storage locations, and issued materials to ensure accurate inventory control.
  • Support cycle counts, inventory reconciliation, and material audits.
  • Identify and report damaged, missing, surplus, or non-conforming materials.
  • Maintain visibility of material status and communicate updates to project teams.
  • Coordinate with Storemen and warehouse personnel to ensure efficient material receiving, storage, and issuance.
  • Support the coordination of material movements between the warehouse, laydown areas, and construction work fronts.
  • Assist with delivery scheduling and logistics coordination to ensure timely material availability.
  • Work with site logistics teams to support inbound deliveries and internal material movements.
  • Ensure materials are stored and handled in accordance with project and safety requirements.
  • Maintain material management systems and documentation in accordance with Kent procedures.
  • Prepare material status reports, inventory updates, and material tracking documentation as required.
  • Support coordination between Procurement, Engineering, and Construction regarding material requirements.
  • Assist with BOM reconciliation, material status reporting, and project close-out documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with project material control processes and documentation standards.
  • Perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management.
