About The Position

Johnson Controls is hiring a Material Coordinator/Stockkeeper for its Wichita operation, which designs, builds, and distributes residential heating and cooling equipment. The position performs skilled and unskilled duties supporting manufacturing and storeroom operations, working with minimal instructions and established schedules. The role involves handling, receiving, storing, and moving materials; maintaining inventory and production records in SAP or another network system; and supporting production to address shortages and keep jobs on schedule. The position is on second shift, 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM, with a listed hourly rate of $28.73. The rate may vary based on education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, location, and market data. The Material Coordinator/Stockkeeper may operate material-handling equipment, including hand or power vehicles and an overhead crane, and may fill in for production workers when needed. The role follows safety policies, procedures, and JHRA requirements and maintains a clean, safe work area and equipment in accordance with 5S standards. It may also participate in Kaizen events, 5S programs, and problem-solving activities.

Requirements

Working knowledge of SAP, warehouse management, bills of material, drawings, assembly techniques, and products manufactured.
Pass and maintain any certificate required to operate applicable material-handling equipment under lease agreements or State/Federal codes.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business information.
Ability to present information effectively and respond to questions from managers, customers, and production staff.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to assist in creating and executing continuous improvement initiatives.
Ability to lift at least 50 pounds.
Ability to walk, bend, stand, and sit for extended periods.

Responsibilities

Perform skilled and unskilled duties relating to manufacturing operations with minimal instructions and according to established schedules.
Operate hand or power vehicles and an overhead crane as needed.
Advise the Supervisor of job status and problems in process.
Maintain required time, quality, quantity, and other records.
Maintain a clean and safe work area and equipment according to 5S standards.
Participate as needed in special work teams, including Kaizen events, 5S programs, and problem-solving exercises.
Move completed material to the next operation or to storage.
Maintain parts supplies for current and future orders and fill parts shortages.
Receive materials into stock and replenish shortages.
Operate the storeroom with minimal higher-level instruction when needed, promptly filling requisitions and assigning stock locations.
Detect and report defective material, shortages, and low stock.
Compare merchandise quality and identification numbers against orders and verify packing-list quantities against received quantities.
Open wooden and cardboard containers for packing-list review and inspection.
Receive, and when needed unload and move, incoming merchandise shipments; maintain related records.
Dump hoppers when necessary.
Transport materials between operations and buildings, including loading and unloading trucks and coordinating incoming and outgoing materials on trips between buildings.
Perform inventory-relief transactions and process production documentation in SAP or another network system.
Control and record activity for purchased material stages in the storeroom.
Expedite parts shortages to help complete jobs throughout other plant sections.
Perform utility functions by filling in for production workers when necessary.
Follow all safety policies, procedures, and JHRA requirements.
