About The Position

The Material Control Planner III is responsible for procuring mass production raw material required for the wire harness business as needed, while balancing physical inventory and preventing line shutdown. This role involves managing the entire supply pipeline, considering purchase order cancellations, push-outs, urgent orders, and normal orders to maintain a steady supply without exceeding Material Controls inventory goals. The Planner will communicate with assigned vendors to review purchase orders, backorders, forecasts, expedite requests, and delivery issues. A key part of the role includes weekly review, release, and interpretation of forecast and backorder reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • 5-7 years of progressive experience in production, material planning, and/or warehouse operations.
  • Knowledge of warehouse operations required.
  • Effective analytical, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Negotiating skills a must.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excel proficiency is a must.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and work with deadlines.
  • Positive attitude and team personality.
  • Some travel required (Domestic and International).

Responsibilities

  • Review, release, and interpret forecast information to assigned vendor base.
  • Review backorders and issue Supplier Delivery Non Conformance and Payment Deduction Notice to vendors.
  • Provide responses to Plant and Warehouse SPCL's regarding material status, including ETA and Plant DOH.
  • Support Material Control and other departments with pending supplier invoice payments related to late/lack of delivery, receiving discrepancies, and supplier discrepancies.
  • Inform production plants of material arrivals and potential production problems.
  • Generate forecast reports, inventory reports, obsolescence control, downtime reports, and others as needed.
  • Follow up on requested activities such as setting meetings with suppliers, resolving discrepancy issues, and invoice issues.
  • Request effective countermeasures from suppliers for repetitive issues.
  • Assign carriers for expediting shipments.
  • Track and follow up on shipments to avoid plant downtime.
  • Travel to manufacturing sites as needed for communication and streamlining production phases (0-5 days per week).
  • Utilize Problem Solving Techniques, including Kaizen Focus.
