About The Position

The Material Control Planner III is responsible for procuring mass production raw material required for wire harness business as needed, while balancing physical inventory and preventing line shutdown. This role involves reviewing the entire pipeline, considering factors like PO cancellations, push-outs, urgent orders, and normal orders to maintain a steady supply without exceeding Material Controls inventory goals. The planner must have strong communication with assigned vendors, reviewing POs, backorders, forecasts, and expedite requests, and addressing any delivery issues. A key part of the role is the weekly review, release, and interpretation of forecast and backorder reports.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree required
5-7 years of progressive experience in production, material planning, and/or warehouse operations.
Knowledge of warehouse operations required.
Effective analytical, written, and oral communication skills.
Negotiating skills a must.
Working knowledge of MS Office such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint programs.
Excel proficiency is a must.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and work with deadlines.
Positive attitude and team personality.
Some travel required (Domestic and International).

Responsibilities

Review, release, and interpret forecast information to assigned vendor base.
Review backorders and issue Supplier Delivery Non Conformance and Payment Deduction Notice to the vendor base.
Provide consistent responses to Plant and Warehouse SPCL's, ensuring pertinent information such as ETA and Plant DOH based on ship history is available for all part numbers.
Provide consistent support to MC and other pertinent departments for pending supplier invoice payments related to late or lack of delivery, receiving by supply warehouse, supplier discrepancy, etc.
Inform production plants of material arrivals and advise of any potential problems they might encounter.
Generate forecast reports, inventory reports, obsolescence control, downtime reports, and others as needed.
Follow up on requested activities such as setting meetings with suppliers, following up on discrepancy issues, invoice issues, and requesting effective countermeasures from suppliers due to repetitive issues (e.g., delivery issues, backorders).
Assign carriers (FedEx/UPS/DHL) when expediting.
Track and follow up on shipments to avoid downtime at the plant.
Utilize Problem Solving Techniques, including Kaizen Focus.
Perform other duties as needed.
