Material and Process Senior Engineer
About The Position
This role will be focused on supporting process development, supplier qualification, material selection, and repair decisions. The candidate should be familiar with aerospace finishes development, heat treating and forming, adhesive bonding, metal processing such as casting, forging, extrusion, welding, etc. The successful candidate will be energetic; driven; handy in the factory; able to plan and manage projects to completion, work under general supervision with no instructions for routine work; and able to work on special projects with minimal instruction. The Quality Engineering team at Patriot is focused on developing and transitioning innovative materials/parts and manufacturing technologies into our products and factory processes. Requirements
- Bachelor, Master or Doctor of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, materials science, physics or chemistry
- 2+ years of engineering experience in engineering discipline field
- 2+ years of experience in manufacturing environment
- Experience working as an engineer on a multi-disciplined team with frequent interaction with suppliers and customers
- Must be a U.S. Person
Nice To Haves
- 7+ years of engineering experience in engineering discipline field
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- 5+ years of experience in metal manufacturing, materials or materials processing
- Strong project management skills
- Familiar with material & process certification, material obsolescence, and/or material & process qualification
Responsibilities
- Defines requirements and approves tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes used in the engineering design, manufacture and/or maintenance of products
- Produces specifications and other documents to manage the deployment of tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes
- Evaluates emerging technologies for potential application to business needs
- Develops and qualifies new tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes to meet requirements
- Integrates new technologies as appropriate
- Leads test and audit programs to qualify suppliers to applicable requirements
- Conduct failure analysis and Root cause corrective action to characterize failure of tools, materials, parts or processes
- Implements corrective and preventive actions
- Uses project management tools to meet cost, technical, and schedule requirements
