About The Position

POSITION SUMMARY: RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS: What are the 5-8 major responsibilities/activities of the role and 2-3 major expectations attributed to each activity? Designing and detailing-- including structural components, mechanical components, platework, flat patterns, welding requirements, geometric dimensions and tolerancing, machined parts-- to be applied to large material handling systems for ash and fuel handling systems. Developing Large System layouts including equipment design, detailing/shop and fabrication drawings, checking, erection drawings, customer approval drawings, load/lifting diagrams, BOM’s, P&ID’s. Interaction and Communicating—working with a team to meet schedule deadlines for drawings and proposals. Manage assigned project. Correspond with the customer through the design phase. Correspond with vendors supplying material for the project. Assist in equipment start-up and testing. Attend customer meeting and required sales and engineering meetings. Participate in on-site troubleshooting visits and safety training as required. Documentation—Write reports emails and documents relative to projects. Write transmittals and manufacturing orders for the fabrication and machining shops. Create requisitions, material take-offs and parts orders. Print and store drawings. Create O&M’s (Operation and Maintenance Manuals). Do any other work as assigned and trained to do Do any assigned work to the best of your ability and training Attempt to thoroughly and completely meet customer expectations of quality and engineering design standards. ATTRIBUTES: What are the Essential Knowledge/Skills/Abilities for this position? 10 to 15 years of Large System layouts including equipment design, detailing/shop and fabrication drawings, checking, erection drawings, customer approval drawings, load/lifting diagrams, BOM’s, P&ID’s. Strong knowledge of machining and welding principles, electric motors, gear reducers, sprockets and roller chain, pulleys and sheaves, shafts and bushings, couplers. AutoCad (preferably familiar with version 2017) 10 years of experience. 3D experience would be useful but not required. General computer knowledge of Microsoft Windows products. Equipment design and knowledge needed: bulk material conveying equipment, belt conveyors, screw conveyors, drag chain conveyors, chutes, bark bins, traveling screw conveyors, circular screw conveyors, under pile reclaimers, screw reclaimers, hoppers, rotary feeders, air locks, slide gates, large silos, towers/ladders/stairs, structural work and detailing, ash and fuel handling Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects and meeting all required deadlines. Strong sense of urgency in meeting customer needs. Forward looking action oriented team player that works well with cross functional groups Ability to multi-task, with excellent organizational and communication skills, proven problem solving skills and can think “outside the box” Physical Demands include, but are not limited to: Must be physically able to perform work assigned. Able to perform field measuring tasks which can include climbing ladders and stairs, as well as extreme temperature, humidity, etc. Overtime and weekend work will sometimes be required, up to 60 hours per week total. Travel typically once monthly with some overnight typically 1 to 7 days.
