About The Position

Hood Container Corporation is seeking a Machine Operator to run our Bobst Mastercut flatbed die-cutting machine on 3rd shift at our Winston Salem, NC facility. A Mastercut Operator is responsible for setting up, adjusting, and safely running a high-speed production of precision-cut materials, meeting the daily output goals, and performing quality checks on finished corrugated packaging or printed products. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to read work orders, blueprints, and use measuring tools (tape measure, calipers, etc.).
  • Mechanically inclined with strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with basic computer systems and data entry for production tracking.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand for long periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Work in a fast-paced, noisy, industrial environment with varying temperatures.
  • Must be able to work 3rd shift (typically 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM) and overtime as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • 1–2 years of machine operator experience in a corrugated manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience operating flatbed die-cutting equipment (Bobst preferred) is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

  • Load materials and precisely set- up and calibrate die-cutting machinery - adjusting grippers, fingers, gauges, and pressure setting according to exact job specification.
  • Run proof samples, inspect finished products for defects (i.g. proper creasing, clean cuts, dimensional accuracy), and verify against customer requirements.
  • Continuously monitor and adjust, if needed, the die-cutting process according to job specifications.
  • Perform quality checks on finished products to ensure accuracy and conformance with customer requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and correct minor mechanical issues with minimal downtime.
  • Communicate machine performance issues to maintenance or supervision as needed.
  • Complete production and produce documentation accurately and on time.
  • Assist in changeovers and clean-up to maintain machine efficiency and product quality.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with company safety policies.
