About The Position

The Master Teacher – Literacy Intervention & Instructional Coach serves as an instructional leader, literacy specialist, mentor, and data-driven educator who supports student achievement through targeted reading intervention, instructional coaching, and schoolwide systems improvement. This position provides direct literacy intervention services to students while simultaneously building the instructional capacity of teachers through coaching, collaboration, professional learning, and the implementation of evidence-based literacy practices. The Master Teacher plays a critical role in advancing literacy achievement for all students by delivering intensive reading intervention courses, supporting Tier 1 literacy instruction across content areas, and leading data-driven decision making throughout the school. In addition to providing intervention services, the Master Teacher maintains responsibility for teaching literacy courses and demonstrates exemplary instructional practice through a model classroom that serves as a learning laboratory for teachers. Through classroom demonstration lessons, peer observations, and the consistent implementation of high-impact instructional strategies, the Master Teacher models effective literacy instruction and supports the transfer of best practices into classrooms across the school. This educator serves as a member of the instructional coaching team and works collaboratively with school leaders and staff to ensure that literacy instruction remains a central focus of school improvement efforts. In addition to supporting literacy growth, the Master Teacher develops and maintains schoolwide student data systems that allow staff members to monitor academic progress, identify student needs, and make informed instructional decisions. Through leadership, coaching, intervention, and exemplary classroom instruction, the Master Teacher contributes to a culture of continuous improvement and high expectations for all students.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree
  • Five years of successful teaching experience
  • Active Colorado Teaching License
  • Demonstrated success accelerating student achievement and growth
  • Demonstrated above-average student growth on standardized assessments including CMAS, MAP, STAR, or similar measures
  • Experience in literacy instruction, reading intervention, instructional coaching, curriculum leadership, or related leadership roles strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated expertise in data analysis, assessment, and instructional planning
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and collaboration skills
  • Strong time management and organizational skills

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a member of the school's instructional coaching and leadership teams.
  • Support the implementation of schoolwide instructional priorities with a particular emphasis on literacy achievement and student growth.
  • Promote the integration of literacy strategies across all content areas to strengthen Tier 1 instruction.
  • Model highly effective instructional practices that support student engagement, differentiation, and academic achievement.
  • Collaborate with administrators and instructional leaders to support school improvement planning and implementation.
  • Utilize continuous improvement cycles to identify instructional needs and monitor progress toward school goals.
  • Provide direct reading intervention instruction for multiple sections of students, including intervention support across grades 6, 7, and 8.
  • Design and implement evidence-based literacy interventions aligned to student needs and assessment data.
  • Progress monitor student growth and adjust intervention plans based on performance data.
  • Collaborate with teachers, interventionists, special education staff, and administrators to support student literacy growth.
  • Utilize diagnostic, formative, and summative assessment data to identify students requiring intervention services and monitor effectiveness.
  • Maintain intervention records and communicate student progress to stakeholders.
  • Serve as the primary instructional coach for English Language Arts teachers and support literacy instruction across all content areas.
  • Conduct classroom observations, learning walks, coaching cycles, and reflective conversations focused on improving instructional practice.
  • Support teachers in analyzing student work, assessment data, and instructional outcomes.
  • Model lessons, co-plan instruction, co-teach, and facilitate professional learning opportunities.
  • Assist teachers in implementing evidence-based literacy strategies and best instructional practices.
  • Build teacher capacity through collaborative coaching partnerships focused on continuous growth and improved student outcomes.
  • Participate in weekly instructional coaching meetings outside of the school day to collaborate with fellow instructional coaches, share progress, review teacher growth, and develop coordinated support plans.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous refinement of a schoolwide student data management system.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive student data profile system that provides staff members with access to academic, attendance, behavior, intervention, and assessment information for all students.
  • Support the creation of student data profiles that allow staff to quickly understand each student'sRENGTHS, needs, and growth trends.
  • Train and support staff members in utilizing data systems effectively and consistently.
  • Facilitate data discussions with grade-level teams, departments, and school leadership.
  • Analyze schoolwide achievement trends and support action planning to improve student outcomes.
  • Ensure that student data is utilized to inform instructional decisions, intervention planning, and resource allocation.
  • Foster a collaborative culture focused on literacy achievement, instructional excellence, and student success.
  • Serve as a teacher leader who supports colleagues in achieving individual and collective goals.
  • Facilitate professional learning opportunities related to literacy instruction, intervention practices, and data analysis.
  • Build strong relationships with students, staff, families, and community stakeholders.
  • Promote a growth mindset and culture of continuous improvement throughout the school.
  • Participate in leadership meetings, school events, district initiatives, and professional development opportunities as assigned.
  • Collaborate with teachers and school leaders to strengthen curriculum alignment and instructional practices.
  • Support the development and implementation of literacy-focused instructional resources and assessments.
  • Analyze assessment results and instructional outcomes to identify areas for improvement.
  • Assist teams in developing action plans based on student achievement data.
  • Monitor progress toward literacy and school improvement goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support school and district goals.

  • The position will not receive step increases but will receive percentage increases approved by the Board of Education.
