Master Tailor & Pattern Cutter

Buck Mason•Los Angeles, CA
•$175,000 - $225,000

About The Position

Buck Mason is seeking an experienced Master Tailor & Pattern Cutter to bring traditional tailoring expertise, technical precision, and exceptional craftsmanship to its design and development process. The role helps define and refine the fit, silhouette, and construction of the company’s tailored clothing, establishing a consistent standard of craftsmanship across collections. This is a hands-on craft and leadership position, not a conventional pattern-making role. The successful candidate will draft patterns, construct garments and prototypes, conduct fittings, manage and mentor craftspeople, and translate traditional bespoke tailoring principles into modern ready-to-wear production. They will collaborate with design leadership, technical design, production teams, and manufacturing partners to develop signature silhouettes and ensure that original patterns and construction methods are maintained through production. The role calls for deep expertise in bespoke construction, pattern drafting, garment architecture, fit, and finishing, alongside an understanding of historic American tailoring, workwear, military garments, and vintage menswear. Compensation is $175,000–$225,000 per year; the total compensation package may include bonuses and other perks.

  • Ability to translate traditional bespoke techniques into scalable luxury or premium ready-to-wear production.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across creative, technical, and manufacturing teams.
  • Understanding of historic American tailoring, workwear, military garments, and vintage menswear.
  • Experience creating original blocks and signature silhouettes.
  • Candidates should provide a professional résumé and a portfolio demonstrating original pattern development, tailored garment construction, and finished work.
  • Selected candidates may be asked to complete a technical evaluation involving pattern drafting, garment fitting, and construction assessment.
