About The Position

The Master Planner / Scheduler is responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining the production schedule for two 8” aluminum extrusion presses. This role ensures efficient use of presses, tooling, manpower, and downstream resources to meet customer requirements, production targets, and inventory goals.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of production planning/scheduling experience; aluminum extrusion industry preferred.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, EPICS, Infor, etc.).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • A self-starter with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent changes and competing priorities.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across operations, inside sales teams.
  • Proficiency in Excel and production planning tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Create and manage detailed production schedules for extrusion presses, aging ovens, saws, and downstream processes.
  • Balance machine capacity, die availability, billet supply, and staffing levels to achieve on-time delivery targets.
  • Analyze order requirements, lead times, die changeovers, and run efficiencies to sequence jobs for maximum productivity.
  • Monitor shop floor execution and adjust schedules as needed based on downtime, material constraints, or priority changes.
  • Collaborate with Sales/Customer Service to commit realistic ship dates and provide updates on schedule changes.
  • Maintain accurate visibility of WIP, backlog, and capacity loading across all extrusion assets.
  • Partner with Maintenance to incorporate preventive maintenance, major repairs, and die shop capacity into planning.
  • Lead scheduling meetings and communicate plan changes to supervisors, press operators, and material handling teams.
  • Utilize ERP/MRP systems to release work orders, manage demand, and ensure accurate data integrity.
  • Manage receipt, including verification of incoming material, ensuring accuracy against purchase orders and material certifications.
  • Monitor alloy inventory levels through EPICS; tracking and routine physical counts to maintain accuracy and support uninterrupted production flow.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce lead times, improve flow, and increase press utilization.
  • Develop and maintain capacity models and planning tools for long-range forecasting.
  • Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and company operating standards.
