About The Position

The Master Scheduler will be responsible for driving supply chain cycles from component part net requirements to final truck build. This role requires advanced analytical ability to review JD Edwards reporting and collaborate with planners and buyers to ensure proper manufacturing start dates. The Master Scheduler will create and distribute dispatches, collaborate with production supervisors to ensure run sequences are prioritized, and monitor shortage reports. They will set production priorities based on commitment dates, analyze capacity planning to identify potential roadblocks and recommend overtime, and collaborate with Manufacturing and Planning on Kanban and pull systems. The position ensures continuous flow through truck assembly, supports aftermarket demand by pushing service orders through near-term scheduling, and collaborates with operations leadership for capacity allocation balance. Escalating capacity issues to management is also a key responsibility. The Master Scheduler will run BOMs for trucks two weeks ahead, ensure all make parts have scheduled start dates, and collaborate with planners to confirm part availability prior to launch. They will also collaborate with the aftermarket warehouse on forecasting make parts, conduct frequent run rates of common parts to reduce changeovers or stock outs, and recommend safety stock levels. Utilizing historical throughput and future requirements, the role will recommend insourcing/outsourcing of piece part manufacturing based on Elgin core competencies. The Master Scheduler will lead continuous improvement events and perform other duties as assigned by the Materials Planning Manager.

Requirements

  • Capacity planning expertise required.
  • Ability to utilize MRP/ERP, data and MS Office suites to develop tools that drive proper workload/labor through manufacturing.
  • Interpersonal skills to work across departments to push manufacturing/operation dispatch priorities and the ability to challenge decisions made on the floor.
  • Ability to partner with site leadership and strong presentation skills.
  • Experience creating clear and concise data sets (charts, graphs and slides) with convicted recommendations to present to Elgin Sweeper leadership.
  • The ability to represent the Company effectively and professionally in dealings with suppliers is essential.
  • Strong analytical, communication (both verbal and written), planning, follow-through, and accuracy skills are required.
  • MS Office and MS Outlook proficiency are required.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills to manipulate data such as VLookups required.
  • 6+ years as a production planner preferably with experience managing high mix/low volume manufacturing.
  • 3+ years as a scheduler with experience managing manufacturing start sequences and adjustments utilizing capacity planning.
  • Advanced experience with MRP/ERP reporting to data mine.

Responsibilities

  • Drive supply chain cycles from beginning to end (Component part net requirements to final truck build).
  • Create and distribute dispatches.
  • Collaborate with production supervisors to ensure sequences of run top-down in order of priority.
  • Monitor and react accordingly to shortage report needs including follow-ups.
  • Set production priority based on commitment date to end-users.
  • Analyze Capacity Planning to present potential operational work cell throughput goals, pre-emptively identify roadblocks and prescribe weekly overtime needs to operational leadership.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing and Planning for all Kanban and pull-systems.
  • Provide proper scheduling for continuous flow through truck assembly.
  • Ensure service orders are pushed through the near-term scheduling to support aftermarket demand.
  • Collaborate with operations leadership to allow a fair balance of capacity allocation.
  • Escalate any capacity issues to management.
  • Run BOM for trucks to be on line 2 weeks ahead and ensure all make parts have scheduled start dates at all levels of the manufacturing operation.
  • Collaborate with all commodity and production planners to ensure parts are available prior to launch.
  • Collaborate with aftermarket warehouse (FSDepot) on forecasting of make parts to support service demand.
  • Conduct frequent run rates of common parts to reduce machine changeovers or purchase part stock outs.
  • Recommend safety stock levels for both make and purchased parts.
  • Utilizing historical throughput and future requirement, recommend to operations leadership insourcing/outsourcing piece part manufacturing based on Elgin core competencies.
  • Lead continuous improvement events (5 Whys, Kaizen, Blitz’s, Just Do It’s,etc) to drive department and plant wide improvement.
  • Perform other duties, assignments, and special projects assigned by the Materials Planning Manager.
