About The Position

Lutheran Social Services of WI and Upper MI (LSS) is looking for a dedicated and passionate Master's Level Counseling / Social Work Intern to join our Family Centered Treatment (FCT) Team. This is a paid, part-time, counseling internship opportunity focused on supporting families in their communities. The FCT Team provides individual and team supervision weekly as part of its evidenced based model. The position is primarily based in Fond du Lac County, with potential travel to Columbia, Sauk, Adams, Calumet, and Sheboygan for training. The opportunity is expected to start in Fall 2026. The FCT team utilizes a fully implemented, in-home based, and evidence-based trauma treatment model to stabilize or reunify families. The team's goal is to help families identify practical solutions to solve problems, keep them together in the community, and treat inter-generational trauma, operating under the core belief that recipients possess significant internal strengths and resources.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human services or closely related field is required.
  • Active enrollment in a Master’s degree program in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or Marriage and Family Therapy is required.
  • A written internship agreement between the educational institution and LSS is required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual, couples, family, group and substance abuse psychotherapy services to clients, as guided by the Clinical Supervisor.
  • Provides psychoeducation, skill building, wellness and/or therapeutic mentoring to children and adults.
  • Conduct formal assessment of client needs using clinical interview, objective diagnostic tools, and input from collateral contacts.
  • Develop treatment plans collaboratively with clients and provide agreed upon and necessary therapeutic services in keeping with strength-based, evidence-based best practice standards.
  • Maintain detailed clinical records and make recommendations concerning case disposition.
  • Complete agency-required and billing-related phone calls, email, and paperwork work in a professional and timely manner.
  • Actively participate in clinical supervision meetings as required to meet best practice and licensure standards.
