About The Position

The Master Production Scheduler is responsible for developing and maintaining the master production schedule (MPS) to ensure alignment between customer demand, production capacity, and inventory strategies. This role is a key contributor to the Sales & Operations Planning (SIOP) process, balancing supply and demand while optimizing service levels, inventory turns, and operational efficiency. The position serves as a primary liaison between Operations, Procurement, and Commercial teams to drive execution and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of master scheduling, MRP, and production planning principles.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (Epicor or similar) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Business, or a related field.
  • 5–7 years of experience in production planning, master scheduling, or supply chain planning.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment; medical device or regulated industry experience preferred.
  • APICS / ASCM CPIM or equivalent certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and manage the master production schedule (MPS) based on demand forecasts, customer orders, and capacity constraints.
  • Translate demand plans into executable production schedules aligned with manufacturing capabilities and material availability.
  • Monitor schedule adherence and proactively adjust plans to address changes in demand, supply disruptions, or capacity limitations.
  • Balance inventory levels, service targets, and production efficiency through effective schedule management.
  • Actively participate in the SIOP process by providing supply planning inputs, capacity analysis, and scenario modeling.
  • Collaborate with Demand Planning, Procurement, and Operations to ensure alignment between forecasts, supply plans, and inventory strategies.
  • Identify and communicate risks and opportunities related to capacity, materials, and service levels.
  • Evaluate production capacity and constraints, recommending adjustments to optimize throughput and meet customer requirements.
  • Coordinate with Procurement and Materials Planning teams to ensure timely availability of raw materials and components.
  • Support inventory optimization initiatives, including safety stock strategies and excess/obsolete inventory reduction.
  • Maintain accurate planning parameters, lead times, and scheduling data within ERP systems.
  • Ensure data integrity to support effective MPS and MRP execution.
  • Leverage system tools to improve automation, planning accuracy, and visibility.
  • Track and report key performance indicators including schedule adherence, on-time delivery, capacity utilization, and inventory performance.
  • Analyze planning and scheduling data to identify trends, root causes, and improvement opportunities.
  • Prepare reports and dashboards for leadership review and decision-making.
  • Lead or support continuous improvement initiatives focused on planning accuracy, lead-time reduction, and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams to resolve scheduling conflicts and improve workflow.
  • Ensure compliance with quality and regulatory standards, including FDA and ISO.
  • Provide guidance and support to supply planners and scheduling personnel.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for scheduling processes and ERP planning tools.
  • Assist in training and onboarding new team members.
