This position performs major overhauls of gasoline and/or diesel engines, and leads repairs on the most difficult and complex agency-identified equipment problems. The role involves diagnosing, troubleshooting, replacing, and repairing electronic and hydraulic systems, as well as performing general repairs and maintenance on vehicles and equipment. The Master Mechanic also provides on-the-job training to lower-level mechanics and trainees, and works with training administrators to develop and improve training programs. Responsibilities include operating welding equipment, maintaining repair records, managing parts inventory, and ensuring the cleanliness of the work area and tools. The State of Ohio is a drug-free workplace, and this position may be subject to additional restrictions regarding drug use, including marijuana. A valid Class A CDL with tanker endorsement is required.
