This position is located in Blackstone, VA and is contingent upon contract award. The Master Electrician is a highly skilled professional responsible for overseeing electrical installations, maintenance, and repairs. This role requires extensive experience and expertise in electrical systems, codes, and regulations. The Master Electrician manages teams of electricians, ensures compliance with safety standards, and leads electrical projects from conception to completion, ensuring all work is completed to the highest standard in accordance to industry, federal, and DOS regulations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience.
  • Must maintain Master Electrical license.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains, repairs, installs, modifies, troubleshoots, loads, and tests new and installed electrical equipment and components including secondary distribution lines and circuits used to supply distribution panels, switch gear, power and control circuits, motors, multiphase alternating current circuits, wiring systems, industrial complexes, and buildings, high intensity lighting systems, and related equipment.
  • Plans and determines the routing, placement, type, size, gauge, balance, load, continuity, and safe operation of electrical lines, circuits systems, equipment, and controls, working from building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, layouts, engineering drawings, and maintenance and repair manuals.
  • Perform inspection, modification, troubleshoot, and repair of generators, and auto-start and transfer switch gear.
  • Bench check engine and switch gear components, subassemblies, and solid-state components using test and measuring equipment standards in accordance with technical data.
  • Repair or rebuild and test components to factory standards to include cleaning and corrosion control.
  • Perform component level repair on solid-state circuit boards and major subassemblies of switchgear and generator control and monitoring systems.
  • Perform removal and installation of emergency power generating, fuel supply systems, and fuel storage tanks.
  • Operate and maintain stand-by and co-generation power plant.
  • Perform time compliance maintenance Inspections in accordance with technical data.
  • Troubleshooting, overhaul, and repair pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems and components of aircraft arresting systems.
  • Maintains cathodic protection systems.
  • Interpret maintenance malfunction data related to aircraft arresting systems to prevent potential aircraft damage, or loss of life.
  • Required to stay knowledgeable with the latest software programs such as NexGen, CEMS, etc. as well as any electronic devices to include computers, tablets, scanners, etc.
  • Train user personnel on operation of emergency power equipment and aircraft arresting barrier operations.
  • Calculate wire, fuse and transformer sizes for system repairs and upgrades using standard calculations.
  • Use specialized equipment to locate and identify underground electrical systems and locate faults in underground electrical cables.
  • Perform re-lamping and ballast/fixture replacement on ramp, hanger, and recreational lighting systems.
  • Use hand and power tools to perform required tasks to trim trees, drill/cut poles, and install/remove associated hardware.
  • Operate vehicles assigned to the exterior electrical shop and other specialized vehicles and equipment as assigned.
  • Maintain and installs lightning and static grounds.
  • Maintain and trouble shoot airfield lighting circuits and airfield vault equipment.
  • Use portable radios to communicate with supervisors, and service call desk.
  • Determines materials needed for repair work and prepares Bill of Material (BOM).
  • Responsible for timely reporting of accidents, injuries, and hazardous situations.
  • Perform all other work-related duties as assigned.
