About The Position

The Master Data Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely maintenance of master data across the company’s ERP, PIM, e-commerce, and related business systems. This role maintains customer, product, and other assigned business records; performs detailed data entry; validates requests; and ensures compliance with established standards. The successful candidate can manage multiple priorities, make sound routine decisions within defined procedures, and recognize when an exception requires escalation.

Requirements

  • Experience in master data, data entry, ERP administration, product data, customer data, or a related role.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including sorting, filtering, formulas, lookup functions, and data validation.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple requests while maintaining accuracy and documentation.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong attention to detail and a consistent commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to organize work, multitask, and shift priorities without losing track of details or deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across departments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify inconsistencies and determine next steps.
  • Clear written and verbal communication and reliable follow-through.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in business administration, information systems, supply chain, data management, or a related field.
  • Experience in B2B distribution or a multi-location business environment.
  • Experience with Epicor Prophet 21 or another distribution ERP system.
  • Experience with product information management, e-commerce, customer master data, or data-governance workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Create, update, and deactivate customer, product, and other assigned master data records based on complete and approved requests.
  • Perform accurate data entry in ERP, PIM, e-commerce, and related systems while meeting established service expectations.
  • Review requests for completeness, accuracy, proper authorization, and required supporting information before processing.
  • Apply established naming conventions, classifications, required fields, and data standards consistently across records.
  • Assist with reporting and metrics related to request volume, turnaround time, error rates, and data completeness.
  • Monitor the master data support queue, prioritize work, communicate status, and complete requests within established timelines.
  • Audit master data to identify missing, inaccurate, duplicate, outdated, or inconsistent information.
  • Research discrepancies, determine the appropriate correction, and document changes when required.
  • Follow master data policies, procedures, approval requirements, and internal controls.
  • Protect confidential customer and business information and follow applicable data-access requirements.
  • Partner with Customer Service, Sales, Product Management, Supply Chain, E-commerce, IT, and other departments to obtain complete and accurate information.
  • Communicate questions, missing information, risks, decisions, and completion status clearly to both technical and nontechnical partners.
  • Make routine decisions using documented rules and business standards; escalate unclear, high-risk, or policy-related exceptions.
