This role serves as a technical expert on in-service aircraft, performing repairs on installations that require a high degree of accuracy and timeliness. The Master Craftsperson will function independently in a team-oriented work environment and take on a leadership role when required. The position involves performing technical functions such as correct methods of in-service installations, repairs/mods, and refurbishments. The individual will troubleshoot problem areas on in-service aircraft to determine causes and pursue preventative actions, improving efficiency and product quality. They will assist in problem-solving to establish or correct planning methods for refurbishments and installations efficiently. Interaction with Engineering, Product Support Engineering, and Quality Control is expected for troubleshooting and implementing solutions. The role also includes organizing, developing, and administering the Employee Skills Development Program, identifying training requirements for tooling, test equipment, and other areas. Planning, scheduling, and completing tasks to meet service/delivery schedules are key responsibilities. Additionally, the Master Craftsperson will assist management with supervision and instruction of technicians, assess subordinates' strengths and weaknesses, and provide guidance for growth opportunities. Maintaining current knowledge of industry standards and assisting in maintaining work schedules and updating CMP cards are also part of the role. Reviewing work to ensure compliance with procedures and standards, and supporting Lean activities are expected. In the absence of department technicians or leads, the Master Craftsperson may perform their tasks. They will also ensure aircraft interior protection and assist in the development and implementation of related initiatives. Finally, they will perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of upholstery experience.
  • Proficient knowledge and skill necessary to perform the job including but not limited to (sewing, patterning, foam building and assembly, fit form and function checks, disassembly and reassembly of seat and divan frames, covering panels and curtain fabrication).
  • Established track record of troubleshooting manufacturing or installation processes.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • FAA A&P license or be able to obtain a repairman certificate within 30 days of start date.
  • 10 years extensive experience in production/manufacturing/service center.
  • Thorough knowledge of manufacturing and/or repair station procedures and specifications, plant safety, tooling, and quality requirements.
  • Proficient knowledge of all applicable machinery and processes necessary to perform the job.
  • Must have basic computer knowledge and skills.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

Responsibilities

  • Working with and knowing how to find design information.
  • Reviewing Design and engineering documents and making corrections as needed.
  • Reviewing and gathering information for burns.
  • Assist in problem solving and troubleshooting. (Work with engineering and other departments leads to come up with solutions.)
  • Develop training and administer employee skills Development. (Develop a shop standard training guideline.)
  • Support 6S and Lean activities. (Perform 6S audits 1 every quarter.)
  • Completed all required paperwork and documentation include CMP card, Travelers and R&I logs (MY CMP, Manuals and research archived information like burns and tec data. Live link ect… )
  • Comply with all safety 6S and housekeeping policies and use of Personal Protective equipment. (Cell phone and ear bud usage.)
  • Perform technical functions such as correct methods of in-service installations, repairs/mods, and refurbishments.
  • Troubleshoot any problem areas on in-service aircraft to determine cause and pursue preventative actions with proper liaison which improves efficiency and product quality.
  • Assist in problem solving to establish or correct planning methods for in-service aircraft refurbishments and installations efficiently by utilizing standard techniques, procedures and criteria.
  • Interact with Engineering, Product Support Engineering and Quality Control to troubleshoot problems and implement solutions.
  • Organize, develop (with assistance of the Training Department) and administer the Employee Skills Development Program.
  • Identify and develop training requirements for tooling, test equipment and other areas.
  • Plan, schedule and complete tasks in order to meet service/delivery schedules.
  • Assist management, as required, with supervision and instruction of technicians in proper procedures and techniques of trouble shooting airframe, routine inspections and preventive maintenance.
  • Assist with performance appraisal of subordinates.
  • Assess strengths and weaknesses of subordinates.
  • Apply strengths for maximum job efficiency and provide guidance and growth opportunities to reinforce developmental areas.
  • Provide diverse learning opportunities.
  • Maintain a current knowledge of industry standards, vendor information and all other procedures, publications and general knowledge pertaining to product support installations, repairs, and refurbishments.
  • Assist in maintaining work schedules and updating of CMP cards.
  • Review work, including forms and records, to ensure compliance with Gulfstream Repair Station procedures and FAA Airworthiness Standards.
  • Review daily job charging to ensure accuracy of charges to aircraft.
  • Support Lean activities.
  • Perform tasks assigned to department technicians or leads during their absence, when required.
  • Comply with standard operating procedures.
  • Complete all required. paperwork and documentation to include CMP cards, Travelers and R&I log.
  • Comply with all safety, 6S, and housekeeping policies and use personal protective equipment.
  • Ensure aircraft interior is protected (PTP).
  • Assist in the development and implementation of related initiatives.
  • Perform repairs on installations that require a high degree of accuracy and timeliness.
  • Assist in training subordinates in proper techniques, processes and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
