About The Position

The new Advanced Manufacturing Hub at Miami Hamilton campus is hiring 1-3 undergraduate engineering students for a 100% on-site, hands-on role. This position involves assisting with equipment deployment, research, and laboratory operations across various technical disciplines within the 70,000 square foot facility, which includes 11 labs and room for growth. The role is results-oriented and requires a minimum of 6 hours onsite per week, a strong commitment to understanding and enforcing lab-specific safety procedures among occupants (students, visitors, partners, etc.). The duration of the appointment is semester-based with the potential for extension.

Requirements

  • Must be an undergraduate student (not masters or PhD).
  • Must have engineering courses completed in either Oxford or Hamilton engineering programs.
  • Engineering knowledge and experience is required from coursework and/or previous jobs.
  • Consistent weekly availability of 5 hours minimum (maximum 20).
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Attach a brief resume and cover letter.

  • Include relevant coursework, technical skills, etc.
  • Provide an example of how you manage complex & time-sensitive projects.
  • Resume/CV, cover letter, and references (from at least 1 faculty member) are required application documents.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with equipment deployment, research, and laboratory operations.
  • Ensure adherence to lab-specific safety procedures.
  • Provide support for divisional/departmental services in the Engineering Technology Department.
  • Perform supervisory functions including scheduling, determining training needs, preparing training materials, conducting training sessions, and assisting faculty.
  • Learn equipment and lab safety for labs such as robotic, subtractive lab, and Electro Mechanical.
