About The Position

Shimadzu Scientific Instruments is seeking a Mass Spectrometry Service Specialist to join our team and play a key role in the installation, maintenance and repair of our Mass Spectrometry and related products. This position offers the opportunity to work hands-on with advanced scientific instruments while also providing technical training and support to field personnel and customers. Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Technology, or a related field required; Bachelors preferred.
  • At least three years of hands-on experience in Mass Spectrometry instrument repair, field service, or a similar technical role.
  • Strong troubleshooting and repair skills with electronic instruments, particularly in Mass Spectrometry systems.
  • Technical proficiency in diagnostics, maintenance, and installations, with a problem-solving mindset and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly and professionally.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites to provide expert service, installations, and training.

Responsibilities

  • Perform repair, maintenance, and installation of instruments at customer sites.
  • Provide technical training to customers and internal teams.
  • Accurately document repairs, failures, and maintenance procedures, making recommendations for product improvements.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance procedures.
  • Manage repair parts inventory in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Provide remote technical support via phone and email to assist customers and field personnel.
  • Assist with the repair of instruments returned to the Corporate Service Center.
  • Collaborate with senior service personnel for continuous technical development.
  • Travel as required to support customers and internal teams.
  • Submit accurate and timely reports and documentation.
