About The Position

The Mass Properties Engineer supports the development and production of Gulfstream aircraft by analyzing and managing weight, balance, inertia, mass distribution, and configuration impacts. The role contributes specialized expertise to engineering decisions, technical problem solving, and accurate aircraft mass-properties information. The engineer works across disciplines and uses analytical models, measured data, configuration details, drawings, and bills of material to support product quality and engineering effectiveness. The position assists with planning, coordination, design, analysis, and liaison engineering. It involves developing approaches to difficult engineering problems within schedule and cost objectives, providing technical assistance to team members, and coordinating with representatives outside the assigned group. Work is performed under limited supervision and is reviewed for accuracy and consistency with overall objectives. This is a full-time, first-shift engineering position in Savannah, Georgia, with travel of up to 25%.

  • Bachelor's degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a Mass Properties Engineering role.
  • Experience with weight estimation, center-of-gravity calculations, moments of inertia, mass distribution, weight tracking, and configuration-based reporting.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • With a bachelor's degree, the education and experience framework calls for 5 years in a specific technical discipline or 10 years of broad engineering experience across several technical disciplines.

Nice To Haves

  • Detailed knowledge of aircraft structures, systems functionality, and design, ideally with commercial or business aircraft experience.
  • Experience with engineering estimation, uncertainty assessment, trade studies, and sensitivity analysis.
  • Ability to reconcile analytical models with measured data.
  • Experience extracting and validating mass properties from 3D CAD models and interpreting engineering drawings and bills of material.
  • Experience managing engineering model configurations using CAD or product lifecycle management systems such as CATIA, NX, ENOVIA, or Teamcenter.
  • Experience with MATLAB, Python, similar analytical tools, or advanced Excel.
  • An advanced degree in an engineering-related field; related advanced-degree credit may be considered up to 2 years for a master's degree and 4 years for a PhD in an applicable field.
