About The Position

The primary purpose of this position is the daily operation of all masa milling systems. Responsibilities include conducting QA tests and documentation, as well as performing minor maintenance and preventive maintenance on masa mill equipment. The operator is expected to maintain a clean and safe working area and may be assigned other duties consistent with qualifications and company needs. The role also holds responsibility for food safety and quality.

Requirements

  • High School education or equivalent is preferred, or at least 2 years of manufacturing experience (preferably in a milling environment); or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Basic math skills are required.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures.
  • Technology proficient to include use of computers and two-way radio communications.
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion.
  • Ability to read, write and speak fluently in English is required.

Responsibilities

  • Operate all equipment pertaining to the Masa Mill delivery, cleaning and cooking systems.
  • Conduct all necessary on-line quality checks, such as moistures and sievings, and use lab equipment for tests.
  • Utilize statistical data to make decisions regarding process quality.
  • Complete various shift reports, including outputs, quality data, and documentation of issues/changes made during operation.
  • Perform maintenance and PM responsibilities, including oiling equipment, sieve repair, screen replacement, belt changing, and various repairs to mill equipment and spouting.
  • Document changes, work orders, and other related paperwork for maintenance.
  • Execute cleaning responsibilities, adhering to GMP expectations for daily, weekly, and monthly requirements.
  • Complete all Master Sanitation requirements, including documentation and general clean-up duties for daily sanitation and fumigations.
  • Ensure safe work practices and contribute to a safe work environment through OSHA-required programs and necessary documentation (LOTO, Machine Guarding, PPE guidelines).
  • Communicate effectively with other Masa Mill personnel and all other Plant functions using general written, verbal, and computer skills.
  • Perform data tracking, reporting, follow-up work, and correspondence as needed.
  • Participate in a team environment, including meetings, problem-solving with team members, and identifying issues.
  • Participate in testing, troubleshooting systems and equipment, and working with outside vendors/consultants to correct mill issues.
  • Understand and qualify in the Masa Miller position in both Masa I and Masa II mill.
  • Perform duties outside the key responsibilities as needed to maintain a flexible, cooperative, and collaborating work environment.
  • Be responsible for food safety and quality.
