MarTech & Digital Experience Lead

Howard Hughes Medical InstituteHeadquarters, KY
$133,026 - $166,282Hybrid

About The Position

HHMI's Marketing and Digital Communications team shapes how the Institute's research, programs, and opportunities reach the scientists, students, educators, and grantees who rely on them, as well as the general public. That work runs across web, email, social, paid media, and in-person channels. Today the team can track performance across each of those channels, but is missing deep visibility and insight into how audiences move between them, and how effectively content and strategy decisions are paying off. This role is for someone who builds the data systems, the analytics infrastructure, and the measurement architecture that show how audiences find, experience, and move through HHMI's digital ecosystem. This includes standing up systems that don't exist yet: leading the CRM and CDP implementation from vendor evaluation through integration, designing the cross-channel measurement architecture, governing UTM taxonomy and analytics configuration, tracking search and AI visibility, and building the audience segmentation and dashboards. The role works in close partnership with the Director and Content and Digital Experience Senior Manager, turning data insights into actionable decisions.

Requirements

  • 8 to 10 years of experience across digital analytics and marketing operations within a matrixed organization.
  • Comfort configuring systems and interpreting data outputs.
  • Proven ability to turn data into actionable decisions.
  • Experience standing up CRM and CDP platforms, ideally leading an implementation end-to-end (vendor selection, data model, integration).
  • Proficiency in data models, integration patterns, identity resolution, and governance.
  • Knowledge of SEO, AEO, and search performance analysis, understanding the convergence of search and AI discoverability.
  • Familiarity with UTM taxonomy, campaign tracking, and pixel tracking (Meta Pixel, Reddit Pixel, LinkedIn Insight Tag).
  • Ability to work across content, marketing, and technology teams, driving standards and change.
  • Ability to explain data findings to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Genuine command of building and owning marketing technology systems, digital analytics, and the search and AI visibility landscape.
  • Eligible to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Build and own the analytics infrastructure, including conversion event tracking, journey dashboards, and UTM taxonomy governance.
  • Design and build the cross-channel measurement and event-tracking architecture for a unified view of audience movement across all digital channels.
  • Own the program for monitoring search and AI visibility, identifying patterns, opportunities, and risks.
  • Lead HHMI's CRM and CDP implementation from vendor selection to integration, serving as the primary day-to-day administrator.
  • Own the integration architecture connecting CRM, CDP, analytics, email, and website for seamless data flow.
  • Serve as the measurement and discoverability architect for HHMI's website redesign, ensuring tracking, attribution, and AI discoverability are foundational.
  • Manage and evolve the underlying infrastructure of HHMI's email marketing in Mailchimp, including attribution, list management, and CRM integration.
  • Build reporting that provides the team with a clear view of audience engagement across channels and translates findings into plain insight.
  • Build segmentation models and collection infrastructure for future audience modeling as CRM and analytics mature.
