About The Position

HPE is seeking a strategic, execution-oriented Marketplace Program Manager to lead the expansion of HPE GreenLake Marketplace commerce beyond the United States. This role will translate country-level regulatory, tax, payment, identity, privacy, trade-compliance, contracting, localization, and operational requirements into a scalable market-entry program. The program manager will coordinate phased launches across selected markets, preserving a consistent customer and seller experience while adapting the marketplace operating model to local requirements. The role will bring together Legal, Tax, Finance, Treasury, Product, Engineering, Operations, Sales, Partner Management, and external providers to deliver compliant, commercially viable launches.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, technology, finance, operations, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6+ years of experience in program management, business operations, product operations, strategy, or related roles, including ownership of complex global initiatives.
  • Demonstrated success leading multi-country launches or market-entry programs in a highly matrixed technology organization.
  • Working knowledge of digital commerce or cloud marketplace operating models, including payments, tax, invoicing, seller settlement, and order-to-cash processes.
  • Experience partnering with Legal, Tax, Finance, Product, Engineering, and regional business teams to convert policy or regulatory guidance into operating requirements.
  • Strong program architecture skills, including roadmap development, governance, dependency management, risk management, budgeting, and executive reporting.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex issues and influence senior stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Analytical judgment and comfort making recommendations amid ambiguity, incomplete information, and competing priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with B2B software marketplaces, marketplace-as-a-service platforms, hyperscaler marketplaces, or global digital commerce.
  • Familiarity with marketplace regulatory frameworks, VAT/GST, payment-services boundaries, merchant-of-record models, privacy, export controls, and enterprise identity verification.
  • Experience working with payment processors, marketplace-platform providers, outside counsel, and multinational finance or tax teams.
  • MBA or advanced degree in a relevant discipline.
  • PMP, PgMP, Agile, or comparable program-management certification.

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end geographic expansion roadmap, including market prioritization, business cases, sequencing, launch criteria, dependencies, resources, and executive decisions.
  • Establish a repeatable country-readiness framework covering marketplace regulation, merchant-of-record structure, payment flows, indirect tax, invoicing, customer and seller identity verification, data protection, export controls, contracting, and local operating requirements.
  • Lead cross-functional workstreams across Legal, Tax, Finance, Treasury, Product, Engineering, Operations, Sales, Marketing, Partner Management, Customer Support, and regional teams.
  • Evaluate market attractiveness and complexity; recommend launch waves based on customer opportunity, partner readiness, regulatory feasibility, cost, operational effort, and time to value.
  • Translate external counsel and subject-matter-expert guidance into clear business requirements, control frameworks, decision logs, and executable plans.
  • Define requirements for local currency, foreign exchange, tax calculation and remittance, invoicing, refunds, chargebacks, seller payouts, reconciliation, revenue recognition, and financial reporting.
  • Partner with product and engineering teams to address customer identity, purchase eligibility, localization, data integration, and country-specific platform capabilities.
  • Coordinate customer, independent software vendor, and channel-partner readiness, including onboarding, contracting, communications, training, support, and operational handoffs.
  • Build integrated plans, RACIs, risk registers, dependency maps, budgets, and executive dashboards; proactively remove blockers and escalate decisions.
  • Define launch and post-launch KPIs, conduct readiness reviews and retrospectives, and convert lessons learned into scalable playbooks for subsequent markets.
  • Serve as the central point of accountability for geo-expansion status, risks, trade-offs, and outcomes from working-team through executive levels.
