About The Position

The Marketing Writer will be responsible for writing and editing engaging branded content across various platforms, including website, newsletters, social media, speeches, advertising copy, media releases, and other internal communications. This role also involves serving as a proofreader and fact-checker, optimizing content for SEO and user experience, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and conducting research and interviews to support content creation. The writer will maintain the brand voice across all written materials and support other content needs as they arise.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of writing experience (in-house, agency, freelance, or equivalent).
  • A strong portfolio that shows adaptability across platforms and styles, while being branded and consistent.
  • Excellent grammar, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • An ability to write in different tones and voices depending on audience and platform.
  • Familiarity with SEO basics and digital marketing concepts.
  • Excellent interviewing skills in order to draft content.
  • An ability to demonstrate time management of multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
  • An ability to cope with daily job-related stress.
  • Experience with content management systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Some knowledge of PowerPoint, design tools (e.g., Canva), and photography is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Write and edit engaging branded content including but not limited to website, internal and external newsletters, social media content, speeches, executive and staff talking points, advertising copy, opinion pieces/letters to the editor, media releases, and other internal communications.
  • Serve as a proofreader and fact-checker for all projects, checking for brand style, proper tone, clarity, accessibility, and grammar.
  • Optimize content for readability, SEO, and user experience.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align messaging and tone.
  • Conduct research and interviews with staff, library users, and others to support factual, well-informed writing.
  • Maintain our brand voice across all written touchpoints, customizing by audience.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality in administrative matters.
  • Support other content needs as they arise and other duties as assigned.
